Survey at the mountain MRZLI VRH July 25-26, 2003

On 19th March, 1916 an assault group of the Austro-Hungarian 46/III. battalion raid the Italian trenches. They had success. They occupied the Italian entrenchments and held tham. We found some documents and maps at the Wienna Military Archives (Austria) about this action.

After the researches at the archives we decided to search the site of the raid. We surveyed the Mrzli Vrh (Slovenia) and recorded GPS points.

We found the site of the raid in the late afternoon. We took some photos and searched a flat place for encampment. We had only sleeping bags, but there was a cavern near us. In the case of rain we could move there.

During this survey we recorded enough GPS points to calibrate the maps of Mrzli Vrh.
